The Buddha was a man who lived in India roughly 2,500 years ago. ‘The Buddha’ is a title, not a name, and it means something like ‘he who knows or understands’, or ‘the awakened one’. His name was Siddhartha Gautama, but people began to call him the Buddha some time after he gained Awakening (or Enlightenment, or Buddhahood).
The Buddha said that others could do what he did. We can all become awakened if we make the effort. So the Buddha also represents our own potential. We will explore the events leading up to The Buddha’s Enlightenment and how this experience can inform our lives today.
We will have time to meditate, reflect and discuss. It is also a great opportunity just to get away as a Sangha and enjoy each other's company, in Adhisthana's beautiful environment.
Places are limited. Please book using the Adhisthana direct private link above.
Once booked via the link please also confirm by emailing Bodhipushpa: bodhipushpa@bristol-buddhist-centre.org
This retreat is open to everyone who has completed one of our six week introductory courses in 2025 or 2026.
