The Bristol Buddhist Centre has had a presence in Bristol since the 1980s, and has been in its current location on Gloucester Road since 1997. It was started and has been kept going by a dedicated group of people, many of whom are volunteers.
Buddhism is not a set of beliefs, but a path leading to limitless love, freedom and awareness. It’s a profound change of heart and mind.
At the Bristol Buddhist Centre, we share our practice of that path by teaching meditation, ethics and Buddhist wisdom. We communicate the Buddha’s teachings in a way that is accessible and relevant to ordinary life. You do not have to be a Buddhist to come to our courses, classes or festivals. We invite you simply to join us and make up your own mind on whether Buddhism is for you. If you decide it is for you, we offer pathways to deepen your practice and understanding.
Our community is open and friendly, and is made up of Buddhist practitioners at different stages of their personal journey. We aim to live according to the principles of kindness, generosity, honesty and awareness. At our core is a group of ordained Buddhists who have had a long training and have made a deep and lasting commitment to practising Buddhism.
