Communication, Play, Buddhism! with Jayaraja

Sat 4 Sept, 9.30 for 10 am start - 5 pm

 

It all connects - come and find out how! Jayaraja (of Buddhafield Festival fame), drawing on his experience in Gestalt Therapy, Non-Violent Communication, play and Buddhism, will facilitate this day. A great way to get to know yourself and explore going out of your comfort zone in a safe way.

 

It will be an experiential day exploring the skills and principles of Non-violent communication, through dialogue, reflection, group work and play. Suitable for complete beginners and experienced practitioners.

 

The kind of areas likely to be included are:

 

  • The Heart of Non-Violent Communication.
  • The basic model; observation, feelings, needs and requests.
  • The difference between the essence and the form.
  • Different learning styles and the needs that may lie within our preferences.
  • The beauty of needs, learning how to live in a way where everyone matters.
  • The Jackals within and their beauty, the Jackals without and their beauty.
  • Empathy, what I believe it is and what it is not, and why it matters.
  • Self-empathy as a path to greater self-knowledge, self-appreciation and effectiveness.
  • Hearing others deeply - what stops us hearing others and ourselves?
  • Observation: differentiating between the stimulus and the cause of our experience.
  • Expressing our experience in a way that takes full responsibility for it and makes it easier for others to hear.
  • How to receive criticism creatively and stay connected to self and other.
  • Being honest with others and ourselves.
  • Exploring how to express our needs.
  • The beauty behind NO!
  • Seeing the value and beauty of anger. Learning how to express the important values and needs that underlie our anger.
  • The transformative power of gratitude.

 

 

Jayaraja a member of the  Western Buddhist Order for 17 years has been learning and sharing NVC for 9 years and is also trained in Gestalt psychotherapy and group work.

Meditation Day with visiting teacher Vajradaka

Keeping the initiative & entering into the spirit of meditation
Saturday 30 Oct 10 am – 5pm


During the day we will explore

 

·   How to keep your meditation fresh

·   Skills for going deeper

·   How to optimise your strengths in meditation.

·   A practical framework for approaching meditation

 

The workshop will include

 

·   Meditation sessions

·   practical input on how to work in meditation

·   examples and similes

·   Opportunities to discuss and and ask questions

 

This workshop is led by the very experienced meditation teacher Vajradaka who lived at Vajraloka for 21 years. He is known for being able to communicate the spirit and working ground of meditation  in way which is helpful, engaging and enjoyable.
