We run Classes, courses and retreats in Buddhism, Buddhist meditation and yoga and have been teaching in Bristol for nearly 30 years. We have been at our current Centre on Gloucester Rd since 1997. We are part of the Friends of the Western Buddhist Order(FWBO), a modern Buddhist movement dedicated to making the traditional teachings of Buddhism relevant to people living in the modern world.

NEWS UPDATE: FWBO becomes the
TriratnaBuddhistCommunity
The
charity which runs the Bristol Buddhist Centre used to be known as the Friends
of the Western Buddhist Order (Bristol) but our whole movement changed its name
on Buddha Day in May this year and we're now the Triratna (“three jewels”)
Buddhist Community.Our Founder and
Teacher Urgyen Sangharakshita suggested the name change to reflect the fact
that we’re no longer just a ‘western’ Buddhist movement, but now have Centres
across the world, including a large and vibrant community in India, where
the Buddha’s teaching are liberating many millions of people from the caste
system. The ‘Three Jewels’ are the three
most precious things in Buddhism – the Buddha, the Dharma (the Buddha’s
teachings) and the Sangha (the fellowship fo the Buddha’s followers). Just click here to find out what it's all
about or see the new book ‘The Triratna Story’ which tells our whole ‘behind
the scenes’ history.
